Tanja Rupnik

 


Soprano Tanja Rupnik graduated in Lied and Oratorium from the Zagreb Music Academy in the class of a leading Croatian soprano Martina Zadro. Additionally she still studies with the acclaimed operatic singer Dunja Vejzović.

Tanja is regularly attending various projects, concerts and masterclasses (Leonardo De Lisi, Cornelius Witthoefft, Walter Moore, Olga Šober, Eva Blahova, Martina Zadro, Dunja Vejzović) with an emphasis on Baroque and Classical musical period. She gained her knowledge on baroque performance working with Philip Pickett, Catherine Denley, Stephan Van Dyck, Mario Pezar, Laura Vadjon and Domen Marinčič.

Recently she appeared as a soloist with the Croatian Baroque Ensemle on the festival »Varaždinske barokne večeri« and as title role in a baroque opera »Venus and Adonis« by John Blow in collaboration with the Aestas Musica international Ensemble in HNK Varaždin (Croatia). Under the auspices of the JUMUM project and the House of Culture in Celje (Slovenia) she performed as Eve in operetta »Usanjano življenje« (»A life dreamt up«) by Leon Firšt which took place in Bad Ischl (Austria) within the 50th anniversary of the Lehar festival and in Eggenfelden (Germany). As a concert singer she has collaborated with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian National Theatre Orchestra in Rijeka, Croatian Baroque Ensemble and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Conservatory Ljubljana.

Tanja has been awarded in numerous competitions (Croatia HGDPP: 1. prize from the 2009 Regional Competition for singers in Sisak // Slovenija TEMSIG: golden plaque and 2.nd place in her own category (2006), silver plaque from the 2004 National competition, golden plaque from the 2004 Regional competition in Ljubljana and silver plaque from the 2002 Regional competition in Ilirska Bistrica. In 2007 she was awarded by the Rotary club Idrija (Slovenia).

She has worked with numerous choirs, including Ave Chamber Choir, RTV Slovenija Chamber choir, Ljubljanski madrigalisti, Vocal group Čarnice, Vocal group Radost and Aurora. In recent years, she has been selected for the World Youth Choir, performing on global tours in South Africa, Namibia, China, Macau, Hong Kong (performing at the opening of the Olympic games), Belgium, France, Netherlands, Sweden and Norway (performing at Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony).
